What is Grief

Grief is the feeling of reaching out for someone who has always been there only to find when you need them they are no longer there.

Grief is the conflicting feelings caused by the end of or change in a familiar pattern of behaviour.

Grief is the normal and natural reaction to any significant emotional loss of any kind.

Grief

Grief is a natural part of life and binds us together as human beings and we will all experience some form of loss during our lifetime.

We may face up to 40 significant losses in our lifetime, many of which are unrecognised as is the impact they may have on us.

  • Loss of a spouse, child, family member or friend

  • Loss through suicide

  • Divorce

  • Children leaving home

  • Loss of a job and financial security

  • Relationship break up

  • Loss of friendships

  • Loss of a pet

  • End of an addiction

  • Retirement

  • Coronavirus and Lockdown
